Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary received a chilling death threat via WhatsApp, prompting a police investigation, officials confirmed Sunday. The message, sent to a supporter’s phone from an unknown number, warned that Choudhary would be shot within 24 hours, stating, “I’m telling the truth.”
The threat, received Saturday night, sparked alarm, with the supporter immediately notifying authorities. Patna (Central) SP Diksha stated that while no formal complaint has been filed, police have launched a probe, focusing on tracing the sender through technical evidence. “A case will be registered soon,” she told PTI.
When asked about the threat, Choudhary remained defiant, telling reporters, “The people of Bihar know we are committed to the state’s development, and we will continue our work.” The incident follows a pattern of threats against Bihar politicians, including Union Minister Chirag Paswan and MP Pappu Yadav, raising concerns about political safety ahead of the state’s assembly elections.
