Rajasthan Congress leaders, led by state president Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully, unleashed a scathing attack on the BJP governments at the Centre and in Rajasthan, accusing them of “vote chori” (vote theft) and gross mismanagement. The charges were leveled during a fiery Kisan Lalkar Rally in Bundi on Thursday, organized by the party’s district committee to protest the installation of smart electricity meters and the state’s failure to compensate farmers for crop losses.
Speaking at the rally, Jully accused the BJP of betraying farmers, claiming their promise of doubling farmers’ income was a hollow election slogan. “Instead, farmers’ income has been slashed by half due to neglect and anti-farmer policies,” he said. He criticized the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led state government for prioritizing a Rs. 3,200 crore Rajasthan Mandapam project in Jaipur over critical infrastructure like schools and rural development. “This money could have built schools and roads, but it’s being squandered on vanity projects,” Jully charged.
Dotasra escalated the attack, slamming Chief Minister Sharma for failing to visit flood-affected villages or the families of seven children killed in a school roof collapse in Jhalawar. “This is not a government but a circus,” he declared, highlighting that at least 80 people died in rain-related incidents across Rajasthan, with crops and livestock destroyed. “The chief minister hasn’t visited a single affected family or expressed sympathy, preferring to fly around in helicopters on public money,” Dotasra added.

Jully further alleged that the BJP secured power through electoral irregularities in constituencies like Jaipur Rural, Alwar, and Kota-Bundi, accusing them of manipulating votes to undermine democracy. He also criticized delays in civic body elections and the alleged removal of Congress leaders from local bodies, calling it a deliberate attempt to suppress opposition voices. “The BJP has money for Adani and Ambani but nothing for the poor and flood-hit people of Bundi,” Jully said, pointing to the state’s failure to announce compensation for flood victims.
The rally underscored deep discontent with the BJP’s governance, with Congress leaders vowing to intensify their protests. They accused the state and central governments of prioritizing corporate interests over the welfare of farmers and marginalized communities. As Rajasthan grapples with the aftermath of floods and infrastructure failures, the Congress’s allegations of misrule and electoral fraud are likely to fuel political tensions ahead of future elections, with the party positioning itself as a champion of farmers and the underprivileged.
