Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging that both organisations do not support equal treatment of Indian citizens and are attempting to undermine the Constitution.
Addressing a public gathering, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the ideological approach of the RSS and BJP is aimed at concentrating power and weakening constitutional safeguards that guarantee equality, justice, and individual rights. He argued that such a framework, if implemented, would erode the foundational principles of India’s democratic system.
He further alleged that these organisations seek to reshape institutions in a manner that reduces the protections provided to marginalised and weaker sections of society. According to him, the Constitution remains the primary shield ensuring equal rights for all citizens, and any attempt to dilute it would have serious consequences for democracy.

The remarks come amid continuing political confrontation between the Congress party and the ruling establishment over issues including governance, institutional independence, and ideological differences. The opposition has frequently accused the government of centralising power, while the ruling side has rejected these claims as politically motivated.
Rahul Gandhi also reiterated that safeguarding constitutional values is essential for maintaining social harmony and democratic accountability. He urged supporters to remain vigilant against any attempts that, in his view, could weaken the balance of rights and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution. The statement adds to the ongoing national political debate over constitutional interpretation, institutional autonomy, and the ideological direction of India’s governance framework.
