India marked the 76th Constitution Day with solemn grandeur on November 26, commemorating the historic moment in 1949 when the Constituent Assembly formally adopted the Constitution, laying the unshakeable foundation for the world’s largest democracy and enshrining the eternal values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for generations to come.
In a deeply symbolic ceremony held in the historic Central Hall of Parliament, President Droupadi Murmu paid glowing tributes to the framers of the Constitution and celebrated the abrogation of Article 370 as the fulfilment of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s dream of one nation under one Constitution, before launching the first-ever official Kashmiri translation of the sacred document, ensuring that the people of Jammu and Kashmir can now read and embrace the Constitution in their mother tongue.
Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan, presiding over the joint sitting, began his address in Tamil—a poignant gesture honouring the language of one of the oldest classical civilisations—and paid heartfelt homage to the visionary architects of the Constitution, particularly Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and the countless members of the Constituent Assembly who laboured for nearly three years to gift India this magnificent charter of freedom and governance.

Carrying forward the official theme “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman” (Our Constitution, Our Pride), the day witnessed nationwide programmes with ministers, governors, chief ministers, schools, colleges, and public institutions organising mass readings of the Preamble, administration of constitutional pledges, and special lectures emphasising fundamental duties alongside fundamental rights.
As the nation reflected on 76 years of constitutional journey, both the President and Vice President called upon every citizen to transform November 26 into a day of personal renewal and collective resolve, reaffirming unwavering commitment to protect, preserve, and practise the ideals of the Constitution that continues to be India’s greatest strength and most cherished inheritance.
