Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi paid homage to former President, teacher, scholar and philosopher Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary on Saturday, marking Teachers’ Day. Joshi also congratulated 82 teachers who were selected for the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 and interacted with the award recipients during the occasion.

In a social media post, Joshi highlighted the role of teachers in shaping individuals and contributing to the nation’s development. He noted that behind accomplished minds and inspiring leaders are teachers who help shape their character, nurture their aspirations and instil values that guide them in serving society.

Joshi also highlighted the contribution of the National Teachers’ Award recipients and praised their dedication to the education sector. He noted that their commitment, innovation and efforts in teaching continue to inspire students and contribute to the development of future generations.

Joshi also hosted a dinner in honour of the recipients of the National Teachers’ Awards 2026. The interaction and event formed part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, which commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose contributions as an educator and philosopher remain closely associated with the occasion.
