Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a rousing reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, even as Opposition members created repeated disturbances. Amid sloganeering and protests, Modi outlined India’s transformative journey and vision for a “Viksit Bharat.”
The Opposition benches resorted to slogans such as “Dictatorship won’t be allowed,” attempting to disrupt proceedings. Undeterred, PM Modi continued his address, taking a subtle dig at Congress President and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, remarking, “Given Kharge ji's age and seniority, I urge the Chair that he can stay seated and still raise his voice.”
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, Modi contrasted the nation’s youthful population with ageing developed countries. “Our nation is young, vibrant, and brimming with a ‘yuva talent pool,’” he said, emphasizing India’s potential to inspire hope and provide solutions to global challenges, earning applause from the ruling benches.

The Prime Minister also underlined India’s economic resurgence. He noted that the country, once ranked eleventh in global economic standings, is now poised to become the third-largest economy, moving steadily towards low inflation and high growth. “India today offers hope to strained economies across the world,” Modi added.
Hailing the recently signed free trade agreement with the European Union as the “mother of all deals,” Modi asserted that global investors and nations are eager to collaborate with India. He attributed this international confidence to the sweeping reforms and transformative steps undertaken in recent years.
Concluding his address, PM Modi highlighted India’s achievements across diverse fields, from sports to space, emphasizing the nation’s growing self-confidence and readiness to take on global challenges. Despite interruptions, his speech reinforced the government’s message of a youthful, ambitious, and globally engaged India.
