Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the growing popularity of the ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ trend among India’s Gen Z while addressing the Indian community in Melbourne. He said the Indian diaspora in Australia continues to remain closely connected with its cultural and spiritual roots through religious gatherings, traditional performances and community activities.
Addressing the event titled “Melbourne Meets Modi” at Marvel Stadium, Prime Minister Modi said weekends among the Indian community in Australia are often filled with cultural and spiritual programmes. He mentioned activities such as Lord Satyanarayan Katha at homes, Ardas at Gurudwaras, children performing Bhangra and Bharatanatyam, and community cricket tournaments as examples of how people continue to preserve their heritage abroad.
The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes for the upcoming Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, which is set to begin in the city in the coming days. He said cultural events like the festival further strengthen the connection between India and the global Indian community while showcasing the country’s creativity and diversity.

Speaking about India’s development journey, Modi said the country in the 21st century is working towards becoming a developed nation. He said India follows a vision of “Grow More, Achieve More,” where every achievement creates new aspirations and encourages citizens to pursue bigger goals.
Modi said India’s 1.4 billion people are driven by ambition and determination, with every successful milestone inspiring further progress. He described the country as one where dreams continue to generate new dreams and where achievements create stronger resolve for future growth.
Thousands of members of the Indian diaspora gathered at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium to welcome Prime Minister Modi during the event. The crowd greeted him with chants of “Modi, Modi” as he arrived alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, creating a vibrant atmosphere at the venue known for hosting major international events.
