The parents of a Bihar NEET aspirant, who died last month in Patna, protested at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Sunday, demanding justice. They stated that they were compelled to come to the national capital because the local authorities had not acted effectively. The father said he would continue fighting for his daughter’s justice until his last breath. The mother echoed his sentiments, emphasising the need for accountability. The protest drew attention to the ongoing investigation and administrative lapses.
According to Patna Police, the NEET aspirant died during treatment in Patna, and while reports suggested possible sexual assault, doctors have not confirmed any penetrative assault. The incident had earlier triggered protests outside the Patna hostel, where students faced difficulties continuing their studies. The state government requested the central government to transfer the investigation to the CBI. The Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, publicly supported the move last month.
Patna Police have suspended two officers in connection with the case due to delays and failure to gather intelligence promptly. The suspended officers include the station house officer of Chitragupta Nagar police station, Roshni Kumari, and the additional station house officer of Kadamkuan police station, Hemant Jha. Senior officials stated the suspension was necessary to maintain accountability. This decision aims to strengthen the ongoing probe into the aspirant’s death.

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) found traces of human sperm on an undergarment allegedly worn by the deceased. A DNA profile is being prepared from this sample to identify any suspects. The results will help match the DNA of arrested individuals and suspects identified by the Special Investigation Team. Authorities hope this evidence will provide clarity on the circumstances of the incident. Investigators are working to ensure a thorough and transparent probe.
The protest in Delhi highlights public frustration over perceived delays in justice. Families and activists are closely monitoring the investigation, demanding swift action. The aspirant’s death has sparked debates on safety and accountability in educational institutions. Law enforcement continues to pursue all leads while maintaining procedural integrity. Citizens and parents alike are calling for reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.
