An Indian Army helicopter conducted a trial landing at the Tirunelveli Armed Reserve Ground as part of preparations for the high-security transportation of question papers for the upcoming re-examination of NEET-UG 2026. The exercise is part of a multi-agency plan aimed at ensuring strict confidentiality and preventing any possibility of paper leakage ahead of the scheduled exam on June 21.
The trial landing was carried out to test operational readiness, coordination between security agencies, and ground-level logistics at the designated site. Officials involved in the exercise assessed landing conditions, transfer protocols, and response readiness to ensure that the actual movement of question papers can be executed without disruption or delay under real-time conditions.
According to the proposed security arrangement, the question papers will be transported from Delhi to Madurai by aircraft under tightly controlled conditions. From Madurai, they will be moved under armed escort to designated security points, including the Tirunelveli Armed Reserve Ground, where Indian Army helicopters will be deployed for the final leg of transport under the supervision of Air Force personnel.

Authorities have designed the system as a last-mile secure delivery mechanism, aimed at reducing the time window between arrival and distribution to examination centres. The use of helicopters is intended to minimise ground transit risks, with officials emphasizing that the movement chain will remain continuously monitored and restricted to authorised personnel only.
In addition to physical transportation safeguards, officials have reportedly implemented supporting digital and procedural security measures. These include tighter monitoring of communication channels and restrictions on certain messaging platform features that could potentially be exploited for information leaks or unauthorised sharing of sensitive material during the examination cycle.
The heightened security framework follows the cancellation of the previous examination session after allegations of question paper leakage, which raised concerns about exam integrity and systemic vulnerabilities. With the re-examination scheduled for June 21, authorities have significantly expanded logistical and security arrangements to restore confidence in the examination process, with coordinated involvement from central and state agencies as well as the armed forces.
