The sudden death of well-known religious storyteller Sadhvi Prem Baisa has sent shockwaves across Rajasthan, with the circumstances surrounding her demise raising serious suspicions. The sadhvi was brought to a private hospital in Jodhpur on Wednesday evening from her Boranada ashram, where doctors declared her brought dead.
According to hospital authorities, Prem Baisa was brought in by her father and spiritual mentor, Veeram Nath, along with an aide. Doctor Praveen Jain stated that despite efforts to revive her, there were no signs of life. He revealed that Nath informed him that she had been suffering from fever and was administered an injection by a compounder at the ashram, after which she reportedly became unconscious.
The doctor further said that he advised shifting the body to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination, but the family declined and took the body away in a private vehicle. Police sources have since confirmed that the compounder has been detained for questioning and his medical equipment has been seized as part of the investigation.

The case has taken a political turn with Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) Leader and Lok Sabha MP Hanuman Beniwal demanding a high-level probe. He urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the Director General of Police to take cognisance of what he termed “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the sadhvi’s death, calling for a CBI inquiry.
Suspicion deepened further after an Instagram post appeared on Prem Baisa’s official account nearly four hours after her reported death. The post contained a farewell message reflecting on her devotion to Sanatan Dharma and expressing faith in eventual justice. Her father later confirmed that the post was uploaded from her phone, claiming the message was sent by another religious figure.
The incident has also revived attention on past controversies involving the sadhvi. Last year, a video showing her hugging her father had gone viral, sparking widespread debate. Prem Baisa had defended the clip as a gesture of affection and alleged an attempt to malign her image. Police had earlier arrested one person for circulating the video, but with her sudden death, authorities are now examining all angles to uncover the truth.
