At least three people, including the suspected gunman, were killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. Authorities said the incident occurred in broad daylight near the restaurant on Blue Lakes Boulevard North, a busy commercial area, prompting a large emergency response. Police confirmed that the immediate threat to the public had been neutralised, while investigators continue working to determine the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the attack.

According to authorities and witness accounts, the suspect, described as a man dressed in black and carrying an AR-style rifle, opened fire near the restaurant's drive-through, targeting vehicles and people in the area. The sudden gunfire triggered panic among customers and employees, with many fleeing the scene in search of safety. Witnesses reported chaotic moments as emergency services rushed to respond to the shooting.

Several eyewitnesses said an employee was seen dragging an injured colleague to safety while waiting for first responders to arrive. Videos shared on social media and witness statements also suggested that an armed bystander carrying a handgun exchanged fire with the suspect during the incident. However, officials have not confirmed the civilian's exact role or whether the individual's actions contributed to ending the attack, as the investigation remains ongoing.

The injured victims were transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center for treatment. In response to the emergency, the hospital temporarily imposed a no-visitor lockdown while medical teams cared for those wounded in the shooting. Officials have not yet released the conditions of the injured victims, and authorities are continuing to notify the families of those affected.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said the immediate danger to the community had ended following the death of the suspected gunman. He stated that investigators are now focused on establishing the sequence of events, formally identifying the suspect and determining what led to the shooting. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Twin Falls Police Department, Idaho State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with officers interviewing witnesses and processing evidence from the crime scene.

The incident has shocked the local community, particularly as the In-N-Out Burger restaurant had opened only about a week earlier as part of the company's expansion into Idaho. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information, photographs or video footage related to the shooting to come forward to assist the investigation. Authorities have reiterated that there is no ongoing threat to the public while inquiries into one of the state's latest mass shooting incidents continue.
