A massive fire broke out in a residential building in Gulzar House near Charminar on Sunday at 6:30 AM, claiming eight lives, including two children aged two and seven, and four women.
Fire department teams rushed to the scene, evacuating several unconscious residents to hospitals.
Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet, confirmed eight individuals were brought dead.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who inspected the site, attributed the blaze to a short circuit and reported that 17 residents from the building, occupied by four related families, were hospitalized. “We will launch an inquiry into the incident. There’s no conspiracy involved,” he said, noting the death toll awaits official confirmation.
