Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commenced commercial production at the fourth manufacturing unit, Plant D, at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, making it the country's largest passenger vehicle manufacturing complex at a single location. The new plant adds an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles, increasing the facility's total manufacturing capacity from 7.5 lakh units to 10 lakh units (1 million) per year. The milestone also marks the first time in Suzuki Motor Corporation's history that a single manufacturing facility has achieved an annual production capacity of one million vehicles.
The expansion represents a significant step in Maruti Suzuki's long-term strategy to increase production capacity and meet rising domestic and export demand. With the addition of Plant D, the Hansalpur complex has become the company's largest manufacturing hub, strengthening its position as India's leading passenger vehicle manufacturer. The enhanced capacity is expected to support the company's plans to introduce new models and improve delivery timelines for customers.
According to the company, the commissioning of the fourth plant reflects sustained investments in expanding manufacturing infrastructure in India. The Hansalpur facility has grown steadily since production first began, with successive capacity expansions aimed at supporting increasing vehicle demand.
