Security forces in Manipur arrested three militants from banned outfits in separate operations across Imphal Valley districts on Wednesday, police reported. The arrests, part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgency, also led to the seizure of a significant cache of weapons.
In Bishnupur district’s Meitram area, Oinam Hemanjit Singh, a member of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO), was apprehended. In Imphal East’s Sekmaijin Maning Leikai, Oinam Tomba Singh, 57, a Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) cadre, was arrested for extorting money from petrol pumps in Kakching and Thoubal districts. Additionally, Lourembam Suresh, 47, another KCP (PWG) member, was detained in Kakching’s Elang Khangpokpi Awang Leikai.
In a related operation, security forces recovered a .303 rifle with magazine, two 9mm pistols with magazines, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, four hand grenades, a wireless set with charger, and two detonators from the foothills of Andro Khuman (Baruni Hill) in Imphal East.

The seizures and arrests highlight intensified efforts to dismantle militant networks in the region.
