A tragic double murder shook Vijay Kheda in Lucknow’s Alambagh area on Wednesday night when Jagdeep Singh, 42, allegedly stabbed his elderly in-laws to death. The victims, Anant Ram, 73, and Asha Devi, 71, were attacked around 9 pm after their daughter, Poonam Devi, refused to return to her matrimonial home with Singh, police said.
The couple, estranged for nearly two years, had been living separately, with Poonam staying at her parents’ home. A heated argument erupted when Singh visited, escalating into violence. Enraged, he used a knife to fatally attack his in-laws. Locals, alerted by the victims’ screams, apprehended Singh and handed him over to the police.
The victims were rushed to Lokbandhu Hospital but were declared dead on arrival. The police recovered the blood-stained knife and have registered a murder case against Singh, who is now in custody.
