Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said she was prepared to rebuild her political organisation from the ground up if necessary, asserting that she was not concerned about "starting from scratch again" to regain political relevance in the state and at the national level. She made the remarks in a video message released amid reports of internal divisions within her party.
In her address, Banerjee said she had previously built a political movement from the beginning when she founded the Trinamool Congress after breaking away from the Congress in 1998. Referring to that experience, she said she remained confident of overcoming current political challenges and expressed her determination to continue her political journey despite recent setbacks.
Banerjee also thanked voters who had supported the Trinamool Congress in the recent West Bengal Assembly election, saying they had placed their faith in the party's symbol and ideals. She apologised to supporters over the actions of leaders who had left the party, describing them as having betrayed the trust of the electorate.

Rejecting allegations that internal differences were driven by her support for party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, she said such claims were merely an excuse used by those leaving the organisation. Banerjee defended her nephew, saying he had continued to work under challenging circumstances and would remain committed to public service and political activity in the years ahead.
The veteran leader further alleged that those deserting the party were motivated either by personal gain or political pressure. She maintained that the Trinamool Congress had overcome difficult situations in the past and would continue to fight for its political ideals with the support of its workers and supporters.
Banerjee's remarks come against the backdrop of reported organisational challenges and political realignments involving some party leaders. Reaffirming her resolve, she said she remained confident that the experience of building a political party from its inception would help her navigate the present situation and continue engaging with the people of West Bengal.
