Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday positioned the state as a key anchor for the next phase of the India-US partnership, with a focus on economic integration, technology and investment. Speaking at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) National Convention in Mumbai, Fadnavis argued that the relationship between the two countries should move beyond strategic and political alignment towards greater economic execution and collaboration.
Fadnavis identified technology as a major foundation for future India-US ties and reiterated Maharashtra's interest in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence and innovation-led industries. He pointed to ongoing global supply chain realignments as an opportunity for India to develop trusted manufacturing and technology hubs. Maharashtra, he added, could play an important role in attracting high-tech manufacturing, global capability centres and data infrastructure projects.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Maharashtra's pharmaceutical and healthcare capabilities while discussing the state's efforts to strengthen its position in medical tourism. He referred to the 165-acre Medicity project, with Cleveland Clinic as an anchor partner, as part of the state's broader healthcare ambitions. Fadnavis also stressed the importance of women's participation in the economy, describing women as important contributors as entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders.

Addressing investors, Fadnavis urged global companies to view Maharashtra not only as a regional business centre but also as a platform for international expansion. He stressed that investments should translate into employment and opportunities for young people. The convention brought together industry leaders and diplomats to discuss potential cooperation in areas including digital technology, critical manufacturing and healthcare infrastructure.
On the sidelines of the event, Fadnavis met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor to discuss opportunities for greater American investment in Maharashtra. Their discussions covered sectors including semiconductors, data centres, higher education and advanced technologies. Fadnavis later described the meeting as productive and focused on strengthening India-US ties and expanding collaboration between the two countries.
The Chief Minister's remarks come as both India and the US seek greater cooperation in technology, manufacturing, healthcare and resilient supply chains. Maharashtra, with its industrial base, infrastructure, talent pool and large consumer market, is seeking to position itself as a major destination for such investments. The state government is now looking to convert the broader India-US strategic relationship into projects that can generate investment, manufacturing capacity and employment.
