In a chilling case from Lucknow, a minor girl was allegedly murdered by a man she met on Instagram after he lured her with false promises of marriage. Her body was discovered on railway tracks five days ago, prompting swift police action. Four suspects—Anshu Gautam and his accomplices Ashiq, Vaibhav, and Rishabh—have been arrested.
According to the girl’s mother, Anshu befriended her daughter through Instagram and frequent phone conversations, gradually building trust before promising marriage. When the girl failed to return home, the mother contacted Anshu’s family but received no cooperation, leading her to file a police complaint.
A dedicated team led by Inspector Suresh Singh launched an intensive investigation. During interrogation, Anshu confessed that he and his accomplices strangled the girl following a dispute and disposed of her body on the tracks to mislead authorities. Police have invoked stringent sections, including provisions of the POCSO Act, given the victim’s minor status.
