The draft electoral roll for Karnataka was published on Monday, August 24, 2026, covering all 224 Assembly constituencies as part of the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR). A total of 1,07,96,339 electors have been marked under the ASDDO categories — Absent, Permanently Shifted, Dead, Duplicate or Other — and their names have not been included in the draft roll. The draft was published following the completion of the house-to-house enumeration exercise conducted between June 30 and August 17.

According to data released by the Election Commission, Karnataka had 5,54,32,314 electors as of June 16. During the enumeration phase, 4,46,35,975 electors, or 80.52 per cent, were digitised and submitted their Enumeration Forms. Among those marked ASDDO, 15,17,042 were categorised as absent, 65,45,679 as permanently shifted, 16,39,864 as dead, 7,09,870 as already enrolled or duplicate, and 3,83,884 under the “Other” category.

Booth-wise lists of electors marked ASDDO have been displayed at the respective Electoral Registration Officer offices, along with probable reasons for non-inclusion. The lists have also been made available through the Chief Electoral Officer’s website and shared with Booth Level Agents appointed by recognised political parties for verification. Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar said the house-to-house enumeration was completed within the scheduled period and thanked voters, political parties, media organisations, civil society groups and election officials involved in the exercise.

The draft roll contains 4,46,35,975 general electors, comprising 2,21,59,240 male voters, 2,24,73,864 female voters and 10,871 third-gender electors. The roll also includes around 3.70 lakh young electors aged 18 to 19 years, approximately 5.55 lakh Persons with Disabilities and around 3.92 lakh electors above 85 years. There are also about 44,176 service electors and 951 NRI electors, taking the combined figure of general and service electors to 4,46,80,151.

The Election Commission has clarified that a name cannot be deleted from the draft roll without an inquiry and a fair opportunity for the concerned elector to present documents. EROs will issue notices where previous SIR electoral roll details submitted through Enumeration Forms are unavailable or do not match the existing database. Electors can submit prescribed documents during hearings, while those aggrieved by an ERO decision can appeal to the District Magistrate and subsequently to the Chief Electoral Officer under the applicable provisions.

The claims and objections period will remain open from August 24 to September 23, while the notice and disposal process will continue until October 22. The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 27, 2026, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date for the revision. The Election Commission has also identified around 1,873 additional polling stations and 3,926 additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to support verification and notice-related procedures across the state.
