Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has shared a fresh message on social media days after facing criticism over her remarks describing Gen Z as the "gutter generation." In a post shared on Instagram Stories on Sunday, she extended Friendship Day wishes to her "Gen-Z friends" while reflecting on personal freedom, social media and accountability.
Kangana recounted a recent conversation with two young women she met at a gym, whom she identified as members of Gen Z. According to her, the women spoke about growing up in the digital era, where platforms such as Instagram, dating apps and artificial intelligence have become an integral part of everyday life. She said they also expressed the importance of having the freedom to live life according to their own choices.
Responding to their views, Kangana said she told them that individuals are free to make their own decisions as long as those choices do not cause harm to others. She added that discussions around freedom often become contentious because of differing views between liberal and conservative lifestyles. According to the actor, the conversation concluded with all of them agreeing that "freedom needs accountability."

In the same post, Kangana referred to recent criminal cases involving young people, including the Ketan Agarwal case and the "blue drum" case, suggesting they reflected wider concerns about societal values and responsibility. She used the examples while reiterating her view that personal freedom should be accompanied by accountability.
The Instagram post comes shortly after Kangana's remarks about Gen Z drew widespread criticism on social media and triggered protests from some groups. Her comments had generated significant debate online, with many users objecting to her characterisation of an entire generation.
Kangana has also remained in the spotlight in recent days because of renewed public exchanges involving actor Hrithik Roshan, which have once again become a subject of discussion on social media. Her latest post appears to soften her tone towards younger audiences while reiterating her broader views on responsibility and personal conduct.
