The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday conducted a high-level security review meeting in Poonch district to assess the prevailing law-and-order situation, counter-terrorism preparedness, cybercrime challenges, and modern policing strategies in the sensitive Rajouri-Poonch range. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Sandeep Wazir at the District Police Office in Poonch.
The conference was attended by senior police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shafket Hussain, Additional SP (Operations) Poonch, supervisory officers, Station House Officers, and other officials from across the district. The gathering served as a platform to evaluate operational preparedness and discuss key administrative and investigative aspects related to policing in the border region.
During the meeting, officers delivered detailed presentations on a range of professional and security-related subjects using PowerPoint briefings. Discussions focused on crime prevention measures, counter-terrorism operations, cybercrime investigations, narcotics control, public grievance redressal systems, and the adoption of modern policing techniques. Officials also reviewed standards for quality investigations and strategies aimed at strengthening community policing initiatives across the district.

Special attention was given to anti-drug campaigns being carried out under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.” Police officials reviewed the progress of operations targeting narcotics trafficking networks and discussed measures to increase awareness among young people regarding the dangers of substance abuse. Authorities stressed the need for coordinated action to dismantle drug supply chains and curb the spread of narcotics in vulnerable areas.
Addressing the officers, DIG Sandeep Wazir emphasised the importance of maintaining professionalism, discipline, and operational readiness while ensuring people-friendly policing. He instructed officials to make greater use of technology to improve transparency, efficiency, and public trust in policing. The DIG also highlighted the importance of timely resolution of public grievances and effective supervision at all levels of law enforcement.
The meeting concluded with detailed discussions on improving field-level policing, strengthening intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and enhancing coordination between various security and police agencies operating in the Rajouri-Poonch range. Officials reiterated the need to remain vigilant against emerging security threats, cyber-related offences, and other criminal activities to maintain peace and stability in the region.
