Law enforcement authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district carried out a decisive operation on Friday, attaching valuable immovable properties owned by seven individuals accused of serious anti-national activities, who are currently operating from Pakistan, demonstrating the government's firm commitment to neutralizing threats to national security through legal asset forfeiture measures.
The action was executed pursuant to directives issued by a designated special court in connection with multiple cases filed at Malhar police station, involving the confiscation of over 10 kanals of strategically located land in the Lohai Malhar area, with an estimated market value running into several crores of rupees, effectively cutting off potential financial lifelines that could support subversive operations across the border.
Following the issuance of formal proclamations declaring the seven accused as fugitives for failing to appear despite repeated summons, police teams, in close coordination with the revenue department, meticulously verified ownership records, completed all requisite legal formalities under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and proceeded with the attachment to ensure compliance with due process while preventing any alienation or misuse of the properties.

The accused individuals, all hailing from Tehsil Lohai Malhar and now reportedly sheltered in Pakistan, have been named as Mohd Ayaz alias Adeel Ansari, Abdul Kareem alias Bitta, Sarfraz Nawaz alias Nawaz Ahmad, Mohd Farooq alias Farooq Ahmed, Mohd Hafeez, Gul Mohammad, and Akhter Ali alias Niku, each facing grave charges related to activities that endanger India's sovereignty and internal stability.
This targeted property attachment serves as a powerful deterrent against cross-border elements exploiting domestic assets, reinforcing the resolve of security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to pursue fugitives relentlessly through judicial and administrative tools, while ongoing investigations aim to expose any wider networks and ensure comprehensive accountability for threats to national integrity.
