Seven people have been arrested after the Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) conducted raids at multiple locations across the state in connection with alleged irregularities in competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). According to a CID press release, the searches were carried out as part of efforts to arrest seven accused named in Case No. 16/2026 and execute warrants issued against them.

The accused have been identified as Aditya Pandey, Pawan Kumar Singh, Ravishankar Kumar, Santosh Kumar Singh, Sanand Prakash, Lalu Kumar Yadav and Saurabh Kumar Pandey. The CID conducted searches at several locations in different districts as part of its investigation and efforts to apprehend those named in the case. The agency has not disclosed further details about the specific allegations against each accused.

The case concerns alleged irregularities in various competitive examinations conducted by the JPSC. During the investigation, the CID has begun matching OMR carbon copies obtained during the probe and examining other evidence collected in the case. The agency said the investigation remains ongoing and further legal action will be taken on the basis of evidence gathered during the probe.

The arrests come amid continuing protests by students and aspirants over alleged irregularities and paper leaks in examinations conducted by the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). On August 13, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised protests in several cities, demanding an impartial Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and strict action against those responsible. Demonstrations were reported in cities including New Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata, Guwahati, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Varanasi.

The ABVP has also demanded the cancellation of the JSSC CGL examination, citing concerns over its integrity, and called for fresh examinations wherever irregularities have been reported. The organisation also alleged that students participating in protests in Jharkhand on August 10 and 11 faced lathi-charge, water cannons and arrests. The allegations have added to concerns among aspirants over the credibility and conduct of recruitment examinations in the state.

Meanwhile, JPSC-JSSC aspirants continue their demonstrations at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi. The CID has maintained that its investigation is continuing and that legally permissible action will be taken against those found involved based on the evidence. The latest arrests are likely to add to pressure on authorities to establish the facts surrounding the alleged examination irregularities and address the concerns raised by protesting students.
