InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, is expected to report a mixed financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, with strong airfares supporting revenue growth while rising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, rupee depreciation, and international travel disruptions weigh on profitability. Analysts expect the airline’s earnings to reflect pressure on margins despite improvement in passenger yields during the quarter.
According to market estimates, IndiGo’s consolidated revenue is expected to rise around 19% year-on-year to approximately ₹24,386 crore, compared with ₹20,496 crore in the same period last year. The increase is likely to be supported by higher ticket prices and modest passenger traffic growth. However, net profit is projected to decline by nearly 50% to around ₹1,084 crore from ₹2,176 crore a year earlier due to elevated operating costs.
Analysts expect earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to fall about 20% to ₹4,181 crore from ₹5,227 crore. EBITDA excluding foreign exchange impact is estimated at ₹5,078 crore, down around 6% from the previous year. Similarly, EBITDAR is expected to decline by 24% to ₹4,310 crore, reflecting the impact of higher fuel expenses and currency-related pressures.

Despite profitability concerns, IndiGo’s passenger yields are expected to improve significantly, with estimates indicating a rise of nearly 15.7% to ₹5.76 per kilometre from ₹4.98 per kilometre a year ago. Higher fares and fuel surcharges have supported revenue growth, but analysts said increased ATF costs and a weaker Indian rupee could offset much of the benefit. The quarter was also affected by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which disrupted international routes and resulted in capacity adjustments.
Investors are expected to closely track management commentary on domestic and international passenger traffic recovery, the impact of fuel prices, and the effectiveness of fuel surcharges. Market participants will also watch IndiGo’s FY27 capacity expansion strategy, long-haul international plans, and the impact of government measures related to fuel pricing.
Brokerages have highlighted a cautious outlook on the airline’s near-term profitability. Jefferies expects limited domestic traffic growth and further pressure from international capacity reductions, while InCred Equities has maintained a negative view due to rising fuel costs. PL Capital expects demand conditions to remain mixed amid geopolitical uncertainty but has maintained a “Hold” stance, citing revenue growth potential despite margin challenges.
