The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that India have retained the No. 1 position in the latest ICC T20I team rankings, maintaining their dominance in the shortest format of the game. The updated rankings also place England at second and Australia at third, reflecting a closely contested top tier in international T20 cricket.
India, three-time T20 World Cup winners, continue to lead the table with 275 rating points, narrowly ahead of England, who are on 262 points. Australia follow closely in third place with 258 points. According to the ICC, the latest update factors in all matches played since May 2025 at full value, while results from the previous two years are weighted at 50 per cent, ensuring a balanced reflection of recent and long-term performances.
India’s continued stay at the top comes after a landmark year in which they successfully defended their T20 World Cup title, becoming the first team in history to win the tournament three times. The ICC noted that while India’s lead over England has slightly reduced, their overall consistency across bilateral series and global tournaments has helped them maintain the top position in the format.

Beyond the top three, the rankings remain largely unchanged among the leading teams. New Zealand hold fourth place with 247 points, followed by South Africa in fifth with 244 points. Pakistan remain sixth with 240 points, while the West Indies are placed seventh with 233 points. This stability among top-ranked teams reflects consistent performances across recent international fixtures.
There have, however, been minor movements in the lower half of the top 10. Bangladesh have moved up one spot to eighth with 225 points, while Sri Lanka have slipped to ninth after losing six rating points, now standing at 221. Afghanistan complete the top 10 with 220 points, closely trailing Sri Lanka, indicating a tight competition among mid-ranked T20I sides.
Further down the table, emerging teams have also shown progress. The United States climbed two places to 13th after gaining six rating points, overtaking the Netherlands and Scotland. Nepal and Oman also improved their positions, while teams such as Namibia, UAE, and Canada saw minimal changes. The ICC also noted a reduction in the number of ranked teams from 102 to 98, following the exclusion of Fiji, Gambia, Greece, and Israel due to insufficient international matches over the required period.
