The Indian Navy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, to strengthen cooperation in research, technology development and the indigenisation of advanced naval systems. Under the MoU, the Indian Navy and IIT (BHU) will undertake collaborative research projects and work jointly on the development of technologies relevant to the maritime and defence sectors.
