Tajikistan has dispatched 3,610 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Iran in a 110-truck convoy, the country’s Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday. The shipment includes 45 tonnes of medicines, a large supply of sanitary and hygiene products, children’s clothing, food items, household essentials, bedding, tents, building materials, and other necessary relief supplies.
The aid comes amid a growing humanitarian crisis in Iran, where between 600,000 and one million households—affecting up to 3.2 million people—have been temporarily displaced due to ongoing conflict, according to preliminary assessments by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Many are fleeing Tehran and other major urban areas, seeking safety in northern and rural regions.
UNHCR highlighted that refugee families in Iran, primarily from Afghanistan, are particularly vulnerable amid rising insecurity and limited access to essential services. The agency noted that around 100,000 people left Tehran in just the first two days following US-Israel airstrikes.

Iran’s UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, reported that at least 1,332 civilians, including women and children, have been killed in the airstrikes, with thousands more injured. Over 180 children have died, and more than 20 schools have sustained damage, reflecting the widespread human cost of the conflict.
Tajikistan’s humanitarian assistance is intended to provide urgent relief to displaced populations and those affected by the ongoing hostilities. The aid is being coordinated with Iranian authorities to ensure that essential items reach those in need as quickly as possible.
The delivery underscores regional efforts to address the humanitarian fallout in Iran, as international agencies and neighbouring countries work to support vulnerable populations amid escalating conflict.
