Haryana Police on Tuesday evening issued a detailed public statement after panic swept through Faridabad and Delhi-NCR when photographs of nearly 50-60 kilograms of seized firecrackers began circulating on WhatsApp groups and social media platforms, with several users falsely claiming that yet another massive terror-linked explosive cache had been discovered in the same city that supplied the bomb for Monday’s Red Fort massacre.
Senior officers from Faridabad Police personally addressed the media, categorically confirming that the recovered material consisted entirely of commercial-grade firecrackers, sparklers, and raw pyrotechnic ingredients routinely used for wedding celebrations, religious processions, and festival displays across northern India, and bore absolutely no chemical or structural similarity to the ammonium nitrate-based explosives used in the Delhi suicide attack.
The clarification became imperative after multiple television channels and online portals initially flashed “breaking news” banners about “suspicious explosive material recovered in Faridabad again,” triggering widespread fear among residents already traumatised by the gruesome images of the Red Fort blast site where nine innocent people lost their lives and twenty others continue to battle for survival in hospitals.

Police revealed that the firecrackers were seized during a routine pre-wedding season checking drive and were stored illegally without proper licence, but emphasised repeatedly that there is not even the remotest possibility of any terror linkage, warning that deliberate distortion of facts at this extremely sensitive juncture could cause irreversible damage to public peace and communal harmony.
With the entire national capital region placed on the highest alert level and every vehicle entering Delhi being subjected to multi-layer checking, authorities have appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station while strictly refraining from forwarding unverified videos or messages, as several accounts spreading the firecracker-terror rumour have already been placed under surveillance for possible legal action.
