Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday hoisted the Tricolour at his residence in the national capital as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, saying the initiative is strengthening the sentiment of patriotism and pride among Indians. Shah also urged citizens to connect with the national flag and contribute to the spirit of national unity as the country prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day.
Sharing a message on social media, Shah noted that the campaign, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has encouraged crores of Indians to participate in the celebrations. He said the initiative was helping strengthen the spirit of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' by encouraging people to display the Tricolour at their homes.
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign was launched under the aegis of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to encourage citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and hoist it as part of Independence Day celebrations. The initiative sought to give people a more personal connection with the Tricolour, while promoting national pride, unity and a collective commitment towards nation-building.

The 2026 edition of the campaign is dedicated to the spirit of 150 years of 'Vande Mataram'. The theme focuses on patriotism, pride in the Tricolour and the historical significance of India's National Song. The campaign is being held ahead of August 15, when India will mark its 80th Independence Day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier urged citizens to participate actively in the campaign and pay tribute to freedom fighters. In a social media message, he encouraged people to make 'Har Ghar Tiranga' a celebration in every home and linked the campaign with the broader goal of building a 'Viksit Bharat'. He also described the Tricolour as a source of pride and motivation for citizens.
Modi had also noted that the 2026 campaign's focus on 'Vande Mataram' comes as the country marks its 150th anniversary. The Prime Minister urged citizens to participate enthusiastically in the initiative and renew their collective commitment towards national development. Shah's participation in the campaign on Thursday comes as preparations continue across the country for Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
