Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, speaking at the state-level 79th Independence Day function in Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, announced transformative initiatives including Regional Vibrant Summits and ‘Agenda 2035,’ a roadmap to align Gujarat’s development with Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. After hoisting the tricolour, Patel credited the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, initiated by PM Modi during his tenure as CM, for positioning Gujarat as a global industrial hub. “Now, we will launch Regional Vibrant Summits to drive industrial growth in towns and villages,” he said, aiming to decentralize economic progress.
The Regional Vibrant Summits, planned for Mehsana (October 2025), Rajkot (January 2026), Surat (April 2026), and Vadodara (July 2026), will focus on sectors like agri-processing, semiconductors, and green energy, building on the success of 2023 summits that secured numerous investment agreements. The 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, originally scheduled for 2025, has been postponed to 2027 due to the state’s assembly elections, making these regional events critical for sustaining investment momentum.
‘Agenda 2035’ targets Gujarat’s 75th formation anniversary in 2035, emphasizing “Earning Well, Living Well” through infrastructure, financial and social empowerment, and innovation. Patel announced 100 town-planning schemes and GIS-based development plans for 55 towns with populations under one lakh, including Porbandar, to ensure sustainable urban growth. The Mukhyamantri Gram Utthan Yojana, with ₹100 crore over five years, will develop taluka headquarters and village panchayats, aiming to make rural areas viable alternatives to cities by enhancing infrastructure.

Patel highlighted Gujarat’s achievements under PM Modi’s guidance, including 11 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana, 2.90 crore Ayushman Bharat cards, and 3.26 crore beneficiaries of PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Gujarat leads in PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana with over four lakh rooftop solar installations, contributing to India’s 50% non-fossil fuel electricity capacity achieved in 2025. The state’s ₹3.32 lakh crore budget for 2024-25 supports initiatives like the Gujarat Semiconductor Policy and Green Hydrogen Policy, with investments of ₹6.65 lakh crore secured through recent summits.
Patel emphasized self-reliance, noting India’s progress toward becoming the third-largest economy under PM Modi’s leadership. The state’s focus on emerging technologies, evidenced by the establishment of Kaushalya–The Skill University and drone application courses, aligns with the vision of a tech-driven economy. Gujarat’s first-place ranking in the NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Goals Index for two consecutive years reflects its holistic growth, with 107% completion of 2,649 Amrit Sarovars and a zero-casualty response to Cyclone Biparjoy in 2023.
As Gujarat prepares for its 75th anniversary, Patel’s roadmap integrates urban and rural development, with initiatives like the Shramik Basera for 3 lakh construction workers and the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana 2.0, backed by ₹1 lakh crore, to empower tribal communities. The state’s 68% MoU completion rate from past Vibrant Summits underscores its investor-friendly environment, positioning Gujarat as a cornerstone of ‘Viksit Bharat.’
