A tense confrontation unfolded outside the residence of former judge Giribala Singh on Friday when her lawyer, Enosh George, reacted angrily during a media interaction linked to an ongoing dowry harassment and abetment of suicide case involving the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma.
The incident occurred as Singh exited her home and entered a car while journalists questioned her lawyer about the case and growing demands from the victim’s family for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. The Madhya Pradesh High Court is currently hearing petitions seeking cancellation of Giribala Singh’s anticipatory bail in the matter, adding further legal pressure to the ongoing proceedings.
During the interaction, advocate Enosh George was seen raising his voice at reporters, accusing them of obstructing him and not allowing him to perform his duties. He also urged that the case required a fair investigation and reiterated calls for a CBI probe into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death. His remarks came amid a heated exchange as media personnel surrounded the vehicle and attempted to ask questions about the defence strategy and next legal steps.

The situation escalated when George’s foot reportedly came under the tyre of the car carrying his client as it moved forward. Visibly agitated, he struck the vehicle and shouted in pain, alleging that he may have suffered an injury. He questioned the handling of the situation and accused those present of endangering his safety, before moving away while continuing to express anger over the incident.
The case itself stems from the death of Twisha Sharma, who was found hanging at her residence in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Following allegations by her family of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide, police registered a case against her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act. Singh, a former judge, had earlier been granted anticipatory bail by a lower court, which is now under challenge in the High Court.
Police had also issued repeated notices to Giribala Singh to record her statement in the case. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on May 25, as legal proceedings continue alongside mounting public and media scrutiny over the circumstances surrounding the case and the conduct of those involved.
