In an unusual incident in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a car owner received a traffic challan for "not wearing a helmet," a violation typically associated with two-wheelers. The error, which occurred on September 8, 2025, gained widespread attention after the challan, featuring a photograph of a car with a local registration number, went viral on social media.
The citation incorrectly listed a two-wheeler offense but showed the vehicle parked near the Ajnara Society crossing in Rajnagar Extension.
Ghaziabad police attributed the mix-up to human error. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sachidanand acknowledged the mistake, stating, "It is just a human error. We are probing the matter to find out how it happened."
Officials clarified that a traffic sub-inspector had photographed the car for parking in a no-parking zone, but the image was mistakenly attached to a challan intended for a two-wheeler violation. The police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the error and prevent future occurrences.
This incident highlights the importance of accuracy in traffic enforcement systems, as such errors can lead to public confusion and undermine trust in administrative processes.
