Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary visited Gopalganj on Wednesday, August 12, marking his first visit to the district since assuming office. He received a warm welcome from Bharatiya Janata Party workers and local residents during the visit. A large number of people gathered along roads to catch a glimpse of the Chief Minister’s convoy as he travelled through the district.

Choudhary began his visit by offering prayers at the famous Thawe Durga Temple, where he sought blessings from Goddess Thawe Bhawani. He participated in special puja rituals as priests chanted mantras at the temple. Elaborate security arrangements were put in place in and around the temple premises ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival. District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh and Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari also presented Choudhary with a picture of the Thawe temple.

After completing his temple visit, the Chief Minister travelled to Chanave village in Thawe block to inspect land identified for the proposed medical college near the local jail. Officials briefed him about the availability of the land, the proposed project and preparations linked to its construction. Choudhary’s inspection of the site is expected to help the state government assess the project’s requirements and determine the next steps for its implementation.

Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari described the visit as significant, particularly because of the religious importance of Goddess Thawe Bhawani among devotees. He expressed hope that the state government would take important decisions concerning the development of the Thawe temple, tourism facilities and arrangements for pilgrims. The proposed medical college was also discussed as an important development project for Gopalganj.

Former Bihar Minister Janak Ram termed the Chief Minister’s visit historic and linked it to renewed expectations among local residents over the long-pending demand for a medical college. The district administration made extensive security and logistical arrangements throughout the visit. Residents are hopeful that the Chief Minister’s inspection will help accelerate the medical college project along with development and tourism-related works around the Thawe temple.

Choudhary spent around one-and-a-half hours in Gopalganj before returning to Patna. His visit combined religious engagements with an inspection of a major proposed infrastructure project, bringing attention to both the development plans for the district and the longstanding demand for improved medical facilities. The state government’s next decisions will determine the progress of the proposed medical college and related development initiatives.
