A violent daylight robbery at a jewellery showroom in Karimnagar city of Telangana left multiple employees injured after armed assailants opened fire and looted valuables on Sunday. The incident took place at a showroom operated by PMJ Jewels in the busy Jyothinagar area, causing panic among shoppers, nearby traders, and residents in the locality. Police described the incident as a carefully planned armed heist executed in a matter of minutes.
According to preliminary police reports, five unidentified men entered the showroom posing as customers and initially interacted with staff while asking to see gold ornaments. After a brief interaction, they suddenly pulled out firearms and began firing inside the store to create panic and prevent resistance from employees. The sudden attack left staff members shocked and unable to respond, as the situation escalated rapidly into chaos inside the premises.
At least three to four employees sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors later stated that the injured were stable but required close monitoring, with the possibility of shifting them to Hyderabad for advanced care. The injured included sales staff, and witnesses said the attack happened so quickly that most employees had no time to escape or seek cover.

CCTV footage from inside the showroom shows the assailants moving in a coordinated manner, with some wearing caps but none covering their faces, which is expected to help police identification efforts. The visuals show the attackers ordering employees, including a security guard and women staff members, to kneel with their hands raised while one of them reportedly blindfolded the guard. After ensuring control, the gang looted jewellery from display counters and stuffed it into bags before fleeing the scene.
Local residents and shopkeepers alerted police immediately after hearing gunshots, prompting a swift response from Task Force units and local law enforcement. Senior officers, including Ghouse Alam, reached the spot and launched a detailed investigation, along with forensic teams collecting evidence. A large-scale manhunt has been initiated, with checkpoints set up across exit routes from the city to intercept the suspects and recover the stolen goods.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar also visited the crime scene and spoke to injured staff and police officials. He stated that he had been in the same area just minutes before the incident and assured that swift action was underway. Authorities are currently analysing CCTV footage and other leads, while the exact value of the stolen jewellery will be determined after a full inventory by the showroom management is completed.
