In a chilling incident in Ganeshpura village, Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, a 40-year-old farmer, Ramswaroop Dhakad, was brutally beaten to death on October 26, 2025, allegedly by local BJP leader Mahendra Nagar and his associates. The attack, stemming from a dispute over six bighas of land in Rajasthan’s Baran district, saw Dhakad mercilessly beaten with sticks and rods before being run over by an MUV. The assailants, armed with guns, reportedly prevented villagers from aiding the injured farmer for nearly an hour, ensuring his death.
The horror extended to Dhakad’s daughters, who were assaulted and humiliated when they attempted to intervene. One daughter recounted being pushed down, having her clothes torn, and facing gunfire to intimidate her. Locals describe Nagar, the BJP’s local booth committee chief, as a figure who has terrorized the village, forcing at least 25 farmers to sell their land at low prices or flee. Dhakad’s refusal to relinquish his ten bighas of land is believed to have triggered the fatal attack.
Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Vivek Asthana confirmed the motive was a long-standing land feud between Dhakad and Kanhaiya Nagar, a relative of Mahendra. The assault involved 13–14 individuals, including Mahendra, his sons, wife, and other family members, who also attacked Dhakad’s daughters. The farmer succumbed to multiple fractures at Guna district hospital. A case has been filed against 14 accused under BNS sections for murder, conspiracy, assault, and outraging women’s modesty.

One suspect, Hukum Singh, Mahendra’s brother, has been arrested, while police are conducting raids to apprehend the others. Guna district BJP president Dharmendra Sikarwar, acknowledging Nagar’s party role, has called for his immediate expulsion. Sources note Nagar joined the BJP in 2020 after defecting from Congress alongside Jyotiraditya Scindia, whose Guna Lok Sabha constituency includes the district.
The incident has sparked outrage, highlighting issues of land grabbing and political influence in rural Madhya Pradesh. As investigations continue, the brutal killing and assault on Dhakad’s family underscore the urgent need for justice and measures to curb such violence in the region.
