Delhi Police has busted an international fake call centre operating from Satbari village in South Delhi, arresting eight people while the alleged kingpin absconded. The call centre, disguised as a legitimate customer support unit, targeted foreign nationals using VoIP-based calling technology, foreign databases, and forged communication tools.
The operation revealed that the racket was led by a wanted criminal named Sanu, who fled moments before the police raid. The building housing the call centre was registered in the name of Sanu's younger brother, Rehan alias Tinny, and has been sealed for further investigations. Police recovered numerous electronic devices including computers, mobile phones, VoIP software, foreign datasets, and documents used in the fraudulent operations.
The arrested individuals, who included a woman, are now being interrogated to uncover the full extent of the scam and any links to other cyber-fraud networks. This crackdown follows a series of recent multi-state raids by the Crime Branch’s cyber cell targeting cyber fraud syndicates and investment scams, which resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of around Rs 5 crore worth of cryptocurrency linked to handlers in Dubai.

The scam involved fake identities, including impersonations of police and agency officials, to intimidate victims into surrendering to supposed "Digital Arrests." The criminals also created fraudulent investment platforms promising high returns, recruited vulnerable individuals to open mule bank accounts, and disguised illicit cash flows through fake e-commerce companies.
This case highlights ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling international cyber fraud, emphasizing the need for vigilant policing and public awareness to prevent exploitation through sophisticated scams that operate under the guise of legitimate business operations.
