A 26-year-old advocate practising at the Delhi High Court died after allegedly jumping from the 15th floor of a hotel in central Delhi’s Connaught Place area, police said, in a tragic incident that has prompted an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The incident occurred at The Royal Plaza hotel on Sunday evening, with authorities receiving information around 9:15 pm. A police team rushed to the spot and found that the victim, identified as Rajesh Singh, had allegedly jumped from the upper floor of the building. He was immediately taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College, where doctors declared him dead.
According to officials, Singh had checked into the hotel a day earlier and was staying alone in his room. Preliminary findings indicate that he may have accessed the balcony area before the incident, with investigators examining how he managed to reach the point from where he jumped. Forensic teams and crime branch officials inspected the site and collected evidence, while CCTV footage from the premises is also being reviewed.

Police sources said a suicide note was recovered from the scene, in which the deceased reportedly did not hold anyone responsible for his death. Family members have been informed, and initial statements suggest that no foul play is suspected in the case at this stage. However, authorities are continuing to examine all aspects before drawing final conclusions.
Investigators are also looking into the advocate’s recent activities and personal circumstances, including reports that he had contacted acquaintances shortly before the incident. While no official cause has been confirmed, some sources indicated that he may have been dealing with personal distress, though this remains part of the ongoing inquiry.
The case has drawn attention due to the victim’s young age and professional background, raising broader concerns about mental health and stress among young professionals. Police have urged restraint in speculation as they continue their investigation, with further details expected following the post-mortem examination and analysis of collected evidence.
