Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday completed her self-enumeration under the Census 2027 exercise, urging citizens across the national capital to actively participate in the Houselisting and Housing Census. Officials said the Chief Minister used the digital self-enumeration system and described the process as simple, secure, and designed to make participation easier for every household. She also shared her experience on social media platform X, encouraging residents to take part in the nationwide data collection drive.

In her message, Rekha Gupta emphasised that accurate census data forms the backbone of effective governance and policymaking. She stated that only precise information can ensure that welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries without exclusion or delay. According to her, development planning for both Delhi and the country depends heavily on reliable population and housing data, which helps governments allocate resources more effectively. She further appealed to citizens to view participation as a civic responsibility.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that widespread engagement in Census 2027 would strengthen planning for infrastructure, health, education, and welfare services. She said that the success of development programmes depends on inclusive and complete data representation, ensuring that no section of society is left behind. Gupta called the exercise a crucial step towards building a “developed Delhi and developed India,” urging residents to cooperate fully with enumerators and digital platforms.

Earlier in the day, Gupta participated in an International Labour Day programme organised at Sant Nirankari Mandal in Dhirpur, where she honoured construction workers and announced a series of welfare measures. During the event, she distributed safety kits to 1,000 workers, which included helmets, gloves, masks, and reflective jackets aimed at improving workplace safety. The Chief Minister interacted with workers, particularly women labourers, to understand their challenges and assured them of responsive governance.

She also reiterated that workers form the backbone of Delhi’s development and announced expanded welfare initiatives to improve their quality of life. These include strengthened social security systems, a single-window labour portal, on-site registration facilities, and mobile health services. The government also unveiled plans for modern labour chowks and “Shramik Seva Kendras” to streamline services such as employment support, grievance redressal, and skill development. Additionally, education kits were distributed to children of construction workers to support their academic needs.

Officials present at the event, including Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra, said the initiatives aim to reduce financial burdens on workers while expanding access to essential services. The government also announced waiver of registration and renewal fees for construction workers, along with a new collective marriage assistance scheme to support low-income families.
