The main accused in a tragic BMW car crash in southwest Delhi, Gaganpreet, tested negative for alcohol, according to police officials. The accident, which occurred near Dhaula Kuan on Sunday afternoon, claimed the life of Navjot Singh, a 52-year-old deputy secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, and left his wife with multiple injuries.
The couple, residents of Hari Nagar, were returning home on their motorcycle after a visit to Bangla Sahib Gurdwara in Central Delhi when the collision happened. Gaganpreet, who was driving the BMW, had her husband, two children, and a maid in the vehicle at the time. The family, based in Gurugram and involved in the manufacturing business, also sustained injuries and was hospitalized following the crash.
Police investigations revealed that the accident occurred due to rash driving, leading to charges against Gaganpreet under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 281 (rash driving), 125B (endangering life or personal safety of others), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence). After being discharged from the hospital on Monday, Gaganpreet was arrested and sent to two-day judicial custody following her appearance before a magistrate.
