Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will transfer the 40th monthly instalment of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana to the bank accounts of 1.25 crore eligible women on Sunday. The transfer, scheduled during his visit to Agar Malwa, will involve a total amount of Rs 1,835.09 crore, according to the state government.

With the September instalment, the total amount disbursed as regular monthly financial assistance under the scheme since its launch will reach Rs 65,395.99 crore. The Ladli Behna Yojana was launched in June 2023 with a monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 for eligible women. The amount was increased by Rs 250 in October 2023 and later raised by another Rs 250, taking the current monthly assistance to Rs 1,500.

Under the scheme rules, eligible women who are already receiving Rs 900 per month under the Social Security Pension Scheme are also covered. In such cases, the difference between the pension amount and the Rs 1,500 monthly assistance is provided through the Ladli Behna scheme. The state government said 39 regular instalments were transferred between June 2023 and August 2026, while the 40th instalment is scheduled for September 13.

Apart from the regular monthly assistance, eligible women have also received special financial assistance of Rs 250 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan in August 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Between June 2023 and August 2026, a total of Rs 63,560.90 crore was transferred to beneficiaries under the scheme, while expenditure during the 2026-27 financial year is estimated at Rs 11,300 crore up to September.

For the financial year 2026-27, the Madhya Pradesh government has made a budgetary provision of Rs 23,882.81 crore for the Ladli Behna scheme. The latest instalment is part of the state's continued direct financial support for eligible women, with the assistance being transferred directly into their bank accounts under the scheme.

During his Agar Malwa visit, Yadav will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony for 33 development projects worth more than Rs 225 crore. He is scheduled to inaugurate another 17 projects valued at more than Rs 28 crore, according to the state government. The visit will therefore combine the latest Ladli Behna payment with the launch and inauguration of development works in the district.
