The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday officially called off its protest with immediate effect after the Centre accepted several of its key demands during a joint press conference in the national capital. The announcement followed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, whose departure from the Cabinet had remained the movement's principal demand amid the NEET paper leak controversy.

Addressing the media alongside Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka said the organisation had decided to end the 36-day agitation in good faith, expressing confidence that the government would implement the commitments made during negotiations. They urged supporters gathered at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and other protest sites across the country to return home peacefully.

According to the CJP, the government agreed to withdraw police cases registered against student protesters and assured that no further action would be taken against participants in the agitation. The organisation also said the Centre had agreed to provide the maximum compensation permissible under applicable rules and regulations to the families of students who died by suicide in connection with the NEET paper leak issue.

Saurav Das said the decision to withdraw the protest was taken after the government accepted the organisation's demands. Ashutosh Ranka added that the demands were aimed at securing accountability and justice rather than pursuing any radical agenda. He appealed to protesters to disperse peacefully and maintain calm following the conclusion of the movement.

The protest, which lasted for more than a month, attracted national attention and placed the spotlight on concerns surrounding the NEET paper leak and the functioning of the education system. Demonstrations were held in multiple cities, with students demanding accountability, reforms and action against those responsible for the controversy.

With the agitation officially ending, attention is now expected to shift towards the implementation of the assurances announced during the joint press conference. The government's handling of the agreed measures, including the withdrawal of cases against protesters and compensation for affected families, is likely to remain under close public scrutiny in the coming weeks.
