Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh on Tuesday met activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, sources said. The meeting took place after Wangchuk was shifted from Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi to the Gurugram-based medical facility for further treatment, following directions from the Delhi High Court. According to officials, Wangchuk was discharged from Safdarjung Hospital earlier in the evening before being moved to Medanta Hospital.
He arrived at the facility in an ambulance at around 7.30 pm amid tight security arrangements. A hospital official confirmed that Wangchuk has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for continued medical observation and treatment. A source cited by news agency PTI said that Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh visited Wangchuk at the hospital. However, details of their interaction have not been disclosed.
Officials have not provided information on whether the meeting involved discussions related to Wangchuk’s health, his recent activities or any other matter. At Medanta Hospital, Wangchuk has been admitted to ICU 8 under the supervision of Dr Sushila Kataria, an internal medicine specialist, according to a hospital official. The medical facility has not issued a detailed statement about his condition, and doctors are continuing to monitor his health closely.

The transfer to Medanta was carried out after the Delhi High Court directed that arrangements be made for Wangchuk’s further medical care. The order came after his treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, where he had been under medical supervision before being shifted to the Gurugram facility. Wangchuk, a prominent engineer, innovator and education reformer from Ladakh, has been associated with several campaigns focusing on environmental sustainability, climate concerns and issues affecting the Himalayan region.
He has gained national recognition for his work on sustainable development and grassroots innovation, while his public campaigns have frequently drawn attention from policymakers and civil society groups. The activist’s recent developments have remained under public focus, with supporters and officials closely following updates about his health and related matters.
