Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan categorically ruled out any claim to the Deputy Chief Minister’s position in Bihar on Friday, declaring that demanding the post after securing two cabinet berths would make him appear “unreasonably greedy” and damage the goodwill earned through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering support to his party.
Addressing a crowded press conference in Patna, Paswan expressed profound gratitude to the Prime Minister for allocating two full ministerial portfolios to LJP(RV) in the newly sworn-in Nitish Kumar government, underscoring that his party had exceeded expectations by winning 19 out of the 29 seats allotted under the NDA seat-sharing formula—many of which were historically difficult constituencies that other allies had hesitated to contest.
The Hajipur MP traced his party’s extraordinary resurgence, recalling how in 2021 he was left isolated after a bitter family split that fractured the original Lok Janshakti Party, yet within just three years the LJP(RV) swept all five Lok Sabha seats it contested in 2024 and emerged as the third-largest constituent in the NDA’s commanding 202-seat victory in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, securing a decisive edge over smaller partners.

Explicitly shutting down speculation about staking claim to one of the two existing Deputy Chief Minister posts currently occupied by BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Paswan asserted that accepting the two cabinet positions was more than adequate recognition of his party’s electoral contribution, adding that any further demand at this juncture would be perceived as ingratitude and could strain the delicate coalition chemistry crucial for future battles.
Looking far beyond Bihar’s boundaries, the young leader unveiled ambitious national plans, announcing that LJP(RV) has begun intensive organisational expansion in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, with dedicated teams already on the ground to build grassroots structures and contest upcoming assembly elections strictly as a loyal NDA constituent, signalling his intent to transform the party into a significant pan-India player while remaining firmly anchored within the BJP-led alliance framework.
