Jhajjar police in Haryana solved the murder of a pregnant banker, Mahak, in just 18 hours. Her husband, Anshul Dhawan, initially reported that unknown attackers tried to rob them. He claimed they fatally injured Mahak during the supposed robbery. The police, however, noticed inconsistencies in his statements. The investigation quickly turned suspicious.
Anshul repeatedly changed details of his story and could not describe the alleged assailants. His alibi began to collapse under scrutiny. Police realised the crime scene did not match a robbery attempt. Witness accounts and forensic checks raised further doubts. Mahak’s father had also suspected something was wrong from the start.
Under intense interrogation, Anshul finally confessed to killing Mahak. Authorities said he had long harboured suspicions about her. Their arguments had grown frequent over time. These suspicions reportedly drove him to commit the crime. The confession confirmed the police’s earlier doubts.

Investigators revealed that Anshul wore gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints. He first strangled Mahak and then used scissors to slit her throat. The crime took place while the couple was returning from a Valentine’s Day celebration in Hisar. The brutality shocked local residents. The murder exposed a chilling betrayal within the family.
Anshul, a chartered accountant from Hisar, and Mahak, a banker from Hansi, had married on September 25, 2025. Mahak was five months pregnant when she was killed. Police are examining the case to ensure no further foul play. The quick investigation highlighted Jhajjar police’s efficiency. The case has drawn attention across Haryana and beyond.
