A 23-year-old man of Punjab origin was shot dead outside a commercial complex in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, on October 5, 2026. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to reports of a shooting in the 6000-block of 200 Street at around 9.45 pm local time. Officers found the man with gunshot wounds in a parking lot. Despite emergency responders’ efforts to save him, he died at the scene. Authorities have not publicly released his identity.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case and is examining the circumstances surrounding the killing. Investigators are working with Langley RCMP and forensic specialists to establish a timeline and collect evidence. Preliminary information suggests that the shooting may have been a targeted attack. However, police have not confirmed a motive or identified any suspects publicly.
Around 20 minutes after the shooting, police received a report of a vehicle fire near the intersection of 232 Street and 75 Avenue in Langley. Officers found a burnt sedan that investigators believe may be connected to the killing. Authorities are examining the vehicle and other evidence to determine whether it was used by those involved in the incident. The possible link between the shooting and the fire remains part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators have appealed to witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward. Police are seeking dashcam footage and other recordings from the areas surrounding both locations between 8.30 pm and 10.30 pm on October 5. Such material could help investigators reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting and the movements of those involved. Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed suspicious activity during that period to contact investigators.
The killing has drawn attention because of the victim’s reported connection to Punjab. However, authorities have not established whether the incident was linked to organised crime or any wider criminal activity. Investigators are continuing to examine available evidence and verify information related to the case.
The investigation remains active, with officers working to determine the circumstances behind the fatal shooting and establish whether the burnt vehicle was connected to the crime. Police have not confirmed a motive, and further details are expected as the inquiry progresses.
