Lucknow-based doctor arrested in connection with the massive 2,900-kg explosives seizure in Faridabad has been identified as Dr Shaheena Shahid, the designated head of Jaish-e-Mohammed’s newly formed women’s terror wing in India, Jamaat-ul-Mominaat, Delhi Police sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to investigators, Shaheena, a resident of Lucknow’s Lal Bagh area, was personally entrusted by JeM chief Masood Azhar’s sister Sadia Azhar to establish and lead the women’s module inside India. The Pakistan-based Sadia, whose husband Yusuf Azhar was killed in India’s Operation Sindoor in May 2025, has been spearheading the recruitment drive for Jamaat-ul-Mominaat since its formal announcement in October.
The doctor came under the scanner after her Maruti Suzuki Swift (registered in Faridabad) was found carrying an assault rifle, pistol, and ammunition. The vehicle was traced following intense interrogation of her close associate, Kashmiri doctor Muzammil Ganaie alias Musaib, from Pulwama, who was arrested after police recovered over 2,900 kg of explosives, 350 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate, timers, and detonators from his rented rooms in Faridabad.

Both doctors were associated with Al-Falah University in Dhauj, approximately 45 km from Delhi. Muzammil had already been declared a wanted terrorist by Jammu & Kashmir Police for putting up JeM posters in Srinagar, and his disclosures directly led investigators to Shaheena and her vehicle loaded with weapons.
The arrest exposes JeM’s desperate attempt to rebuild its network in India after suffering devastating losses in Operation Sindoor, with the terror outfit now aggressively recruiting educated and economically vulnerable women through its madrasas and centres in Bahawalpur, Karachi, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Haripur, and Mansehra to expand its deadly footprint across the border.
