Bomb threat emails sent to courts in Davanagere, Hassan, Madikeri, and the High Court bench in Dharwad on Monday triggered panic and led to the suspension of proceedings. Authorities launched searches as security teams, including bomb disposal and dog squads, were deployed to inspect the premises.
In Davanagere, the district court received an email allegedly from Tamil Nadu claiming that an RDX bomb had been planted, with a warning against increasing the reservation quota. Judges, advocates, and staff were evacuated, and the court complex was thoroughly searched for explosives.
A similar threat disrupted proceedings at the Madikeri district court. The email claimed that a bomb had been planted on the premises, prompting evacuation of court staff and advocates. Security personnel, along with bomb disposal teams, conducted a detailed search of the complex located on the outskirts of the city.

The Dharwad High Court bench also received a hoax bomb threat. Advocates and staff were asked to vacate the building while Garag police, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads carried out searches. Fire and emergency personnel assisted in ensuring the premises were secure.
Hassan district court faced a similar situation, with the local police initiating an inspection following the threat email. Bomb disposal and dog squads combed the court premises, including parking areas, to rule out any danger before proceedings could resume.
Police are actively investigating the source of all four emails. Officials are coordinating with cybercrime and digital forensics teams to trace the origin and motive behind the threats, while court operations remain temporarily halted as a precaution.
