A tense situation unfolded on Thursday at the Muzaffarpur Civil Court complex after a bomb threat email prompted panic among lawyers, court staff, and visitors. The suspicious email, sent to the District Judge’s official account around 11:30 a.m., claimed that an explosive device had been planted within the court premises, prompting immediate precautionary measures.
Following the alert, court authorities swiftly evacuated the entire complex and tightened security. Police and administrative teams reached the site quickly, establishing a security perimeter and ensuring that all individuals were safely moved to secure locations. Judicial proceedings were suspended for the first half of the day while security checks were conducted.
Advocate Rajesh Kumar confirmed that notifications regarding the suspension were circulated through WhatsApp groups, and many lawyers discovered their offices locked with instructions to vacate the campus. Another advocate, Sanjay Prasad, expressed concern over the frequency of such threats in Bihar, highlighting the ongoing challenges of maintaining security within judicial institutions.
