At least 10 people were killed and more than 40 others injured in a major boiler explosion at a power plant operated by Vedanta Limited in Singhitarai village on Tuesday. The blast, which occurred in the afternoon, caused widespread panic and extensive damage within the facility, prompting an immediate emergency response from local authorities.
According to preliminary inputs from police officials, the explosion is suspected to have originated from a boiler tube inside the plant. The force of the blast was intense, impacting workers present in the vicinity and leading to multiple casualties. Authorities have also expressed concern that some workers may still be trapped under debris, raising fears that the death toll could increase as rescue operations progress.
Soon after the incident, teams from the police, fire department, and local administration rushed to the site to begin rescue and relief efforts. Emergency personnel have been working continuously to clear debris, search for survivors, and secure the affected area to prevent further risks. The operation has been described as challenging due to the scale of the damage and the conditions inside the plant.
