Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha nominee Tarun Chugh has said that the party is increasingly emerging as a preferred political choice among voters, asserting confidence that the organisation is positioned for a “decisive political transformation” in Punjab ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
In an interview, Chugh outlined the BJP’s organisational strength and long-standing presence in Punjab, arguing that the party has deep historical roots in the state dating back several decades. He said the BJP has been actively engaged in Punjab’s political landscape since the early years after Independence and has continued to expand its organisational footprint over time.
Chugh referred to key historical milestones, including the BJP’s early participation in elections and its alliances in coalition arrangements, stating that the party’s support base has gradually grown over the years. He pointed to vote share trends in Punjab elections, saying that the BJP’s electoral performance has shown a steady rise, including an increase in vote share in recent cycles.

He also said the party is preparing across all 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab and is focusing on strengthening its grassroots presence. According to him, the BJP’s campaign strategy is built around expanding organisational outreach and consolidating voter support in both urban and rural regions of the state.
Highlighting governance-related issues, Chugh claimed that Punjab is facing challenges related to law and order, drug abuse, and administrative efficiency. He argued that these issues require strong and stable leadership, adding that the BJP believes it can provide an alternative governance model focused on development and security.
Chugh further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to enjoy significant goodwill in Punjab, citing infrastructure and heritage development projects as examples of central government initiatives in the state. He mentioned tourism-related development around religious sites, including infrastructure improvements near the Golden Temple, as part of broader cultural and connectivity efforts.
Criticising the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Chugh said several electoral promises remain unfulfilled, including financial assistance schemes for women. He argued that this gap between promises and delivery is contributing to public dissatisfaction, which the BJP hopes to convert into electoral support in the coming political cycle.
